You could also choose to specialize in the kind of phones you deal with if you choose. For example, there are technicians that only deal with iphones while others specialize in android phones. Being versatile however, has an advantage because you get more work and develop experience in multiple fields as well.
Step one
Step one in becoming a great phone repair technician is to enroll in a trusted mobile phone repair training institute. It is important that you choose a trusted training institute because not every institute will equip you with the skills you need to work independently if you choose wrong. You need to enroll in a training institute because phone repair is not a skill you can learn on your own. Even if you learn on your own, it will take you a lot of time to master the most complicated skills. Also, you will build a very bad reputation if you damage or are unable to do the repairs that your customers bring you because you luck the skills.
There are so many training institutes, but you should ensure that it is certified and properly licensed with good and qualified tutors. Many people enroll in training institutes only to come out with very little or no skills at all.
Step two
While at the school, you will need to go up and beyond the training you will be exposed to in class. You will need to do a lot of experimentation on your own and also watch videos online. There are also several free courses and communities of people with similar interests where you can learn more skills. If you decide not to enroll in a training institute, you can opt for apprenticeship. This is where you work under the supervision of a more qualified technician and gain phone repair skills while working. The technician will ask you to perform certain tasks that they expect you to learn from. You will start by handling basic tasks and upgrade to more complicated tasks as you become more experienced.
Step three
It should take you somewhere from 6 months to a year to be skilled enough to work on your own if your training emphasized practical more than theory. If you feel confident enough to work independently, you should open a shop and get it licensed. You should register the business and get certified as a phone repair technician. Being certified gives your customers more confidence when dealing with you and can lead to many referrals in future.
